Wellington at night
As we made our
way towards the South Island, we stopped over in New Zealand’s capital
Wellington, though in all honesty there’s really not much to write about here.
The Wi-Fi was decent, which made a nice change considering most of the
businesses here seem to hold their Wi-Fi connections hostage so that they can
profit from tourists, making it damn-near impossible to keep in touch with
family and friends, but also in keeping this blog updated. Please sort this
out, New Zealand! It’s your one flaw!
So, back to
Wellington. But actually, we didn’t really do anything as we got there quite
late in the day, and by the time we headed out to the local museum, it had
already closed. The harbour is beautiful at night though, and we did enjoy
some drinks with the tour group as some departed while others joined ready for
the South Island. All in all, an early night for us ahead of a long travel-day
aboard the South Island Ferry.
We enjoyed some
truly unforgettable sights from the ferry as we came up on the coast. I
couldn’t help but play The Lost World:
Jurassic Park soundtrack in my mind, as it looked like we were approaching
one. The land is a lush green, and the water a gorgeous blue. Once on land, we
found ourselves in the harbour town of Picton, before moving on to Abel Tasman
National Park…
Welcome to the South Island
